Interview with Beth Mead

  1. How was it to play in the World Cup?

Yeah, I mean it was a first time for me. I think it was really, really exciting. I think you play football on the biggest stages in women’s football and to get that opportunity and actually start quite a lot of games was overwhelming but one of the best experiences of my career.

  1. Who is your biggest inspiration?

Footballing wise when I grew up I’d say Kelly Smith and Thierry Henry – two amazing footballers of their eras. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the chance to play with Kelly. And my family, my Mum and Dad they have been a massive drive for me since I been a young kid and I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.

  1. What do you do if you have a day off?

Chill, go for a coffee, bite to eat, bit of social but, yeah, just recover the body really and enjoy the day off!

  1. Do you have a favourite goal that you’ve scored for Arsenal?

I actually really enjoyed my goal that I scored, and it’s probably not one of the best ones I’ve scored for them, but when I scored for 2-1 against City. I passed KB and I just got over excited and we won that game 2-1. So yeah I enjoyed that one.

  1. Scoring in the Champions League or Women’s World Cup?

World Cup!

  1. How proud are you of inventing the CROT?

Actually I said to Kat today she nearly scored one! I was like who have you been watching! Yeah it’s not a bad thing to invent. I guess it’s one of them goals that either go in or don’t and it looks good or bad. It’s catching on!

  1. What’s your favourite chocolate?

Galaxy chocolate or oreo milkers.

  1. Meadow Park or The Emirates which one do you prefer?

You wanna say play in big stadiums and fill them out. I mean in pre-season, unfortunately, I wasn’t able to play in that coming back of the World Cup but the girls said that was special. But this is our home I guess. It is a tough one – you want to play at both!
